Bangor hit for seven
BANGOR'S dreams of progressing were hit for seven in the first leg and the Swedish side were simply too fast and enjoyed the lion's share of possession.
City held out for 28 minutes, but when Robert Andersson did eventually score the floodgates opened.
Michael Svensson's close-range header made it two-nil and things went from bad to worse for Bangor when Paul Roberts was sent off for a second bookable offence on 38 minutes.
Torbjorn Arvidsson made it three-nil just before half time with a well-directed header.
After the break, Halmstad needed just three minutes to extend their lead - Stefan Selakovich scoring the first of his two goals as a result of some sloppy Bangor defending.
Bangor's defence then managed to shut up shop for half an hour with Halmstad only managing a fifth goal after an interception by Selakovich.
There was still time for two more, however, and Bjorn Carlsson and substitute Henrik Beatilsson netted in the last five minutes to make it a comprehensive defeat.
