Honours even in game of two halves
Prestatyn v NewtownIN a game dominated by a strong wind and rain, both sides took advantage of the elements in a proverbial game of two halves.
Prestatyn held the upper hand up to half time and held the lead thanks to Jon Fisher Cooke;s 24th-minute header.
Ross Stephens also saw a speculative 30-yarder almost catch Newtown keeper Nick Thomas off guard before also hitting the woodwork, but the Robins' Steve Blenkinsop nearly levelled on the stroke of half-time when he just failed to connect with a Gareth Partridge cross and then fired over the bar from a shot on the turn.
In the second period the wind gained more strength and blew three Newtown corners into the crowd.
But returning midfielder Callum Wright hit the crossbar with a rising drive and then produced a clinical finish after a strong run.
Seasiders' keeper Jon Hill-Dunt made two good saves, first palming a Nick Rushton shot around the post and tipping a goal-bound effort from Jamie Price over the bar as the visitors finished the game with their tails up.
