Aber hold the advantage
ABERYSTWYTH were unable to repeat their opening day league win at Richmond Park, but still hold the advantage going into the second leg.
The visitors dominated the early stages but Carmarthen came back into the game, with ex-Seasider Geraint Passmore bringing a good save from keeper Steve Cann and Sacha Walters hitting the side netting with a free kick.
A long range effort from Luke Sherbon was easily saved by Town's Mike Lewis while Craig Williams also tested the former Afan Lido stopper, who had a let-off when fumbling a Ryan Marriott cross which was cleared by Lee Bevan.
Marriott tried to find the top corner after the break but hit the side netting, while Cann did well to stop a Walters effort.
The best chance came mid-way through the half when a free kick from Craig Williams dipped under the bar but was saved superbly by Lewis.
The Old Gold pressed for a winner late-on, but Passmore's shot was saved by Cann and the Black & Greens almost scored a vital away goal when Antony Finselback combined with Marriott, but Sherbon miscued from his low cross into the box.
