Robins limit the damage
Airbus v NewtownLEADING 3-0 after half an hour, Airbus threatened to run-up a cricket score, but Newtown hit back after the break to finish on the wrong end of a 4-2 scoreline.
Richie Dorman gave the hosts the best possible start with a first-minute shot which deflected off a defender and looped over veteran keeper Lee Williams, a last-minute replacement for Dave Roberts, who was injured in the warm-up.
The Wingmakers soon doubled their lead with Mark Allen netting his second in four days from a Matty Cook cross.
And total dominance by the hosts was emphasised when Wrexham loanee Nick Rushton scored from close range.
Two minutes after the break, the Robins grabbed a lifeline when Craig Davies scored from the spot when Rhys Roberts was penalised for a push.
Some loose play in the box allowed Craig Hutchinson to reduce the arrears further but, five minutes later, Phil Clarke's excellent cross was converted by Rushton to give the Airmen a two-goal cushion going into the second leg.
