City make hard work of it
Bangor City v AberamanHOLDERS Bangor City progressed to the last eight once again, but they struggled to finish-off plucky Welsh Leaguers Aberaman.
Only a 93rd-minute Jamie Reed penalty finally settled their nerves after Samir Misbah had tugged a shirt.
The visitors snatched an 18th-minute lead when Jon Phillips converted with a first-time volley following a throw-in down the right-hand side.
And the Citizens' breathed a sigh of relief when Jonathan Kift's volley was well-held by keeper Paul Smith.
Michael Johnston was also forced to clear off his own line from Greg Palmer's shot, but Bangor finally found their feet when Reed received a pass from debutant Eddie Jebb to fire into the far corner.
Craig Garside put the hosts in front on 50 minutes after a good move but, until Reed's late spot kick, City were always vulnerable to a breakaway despite missing several good chances themselves.
