Extra-time win so sweet for Town
CARMARTHEN gained sweet revenge for last seaon's 4-0 reverse at the hands of Rhyl with an extra-time victory.
Two goals in four minutes killed off the Lillies, who lost striker Lee Hunt to a second yellow card five minutes from the end of normal time.
Mark Dodds held the ball up before laying off to Richard Kennedy who floated a superb left-foot shot from 25-yards past keeper Paul Smith.
Four minutes later Nathan Cotterrall's cross was converted by youth sub Omar Abdillahi to seal the win.
Carmarthen's lack of firepower was evident as they were well held, but keeper Tony Pennock was equal to anything thrown at him by an out-of-sorts Rhyl, who missed the influence of Gareth Wilson and Simon Davies in midfield.
"It's superb for the club and puts us in confident mood for Sunday's Welsh Cup final with TNS," said Carmarthen manager Mark Jones.
"Our game plan worked perfectly. In both our previous games with Rhyl this season they have hit us early on.
"We told the lads that if we could hold them well into the match the pace of our substitutes, Nathan and Omah, could do some damage - and it worked."
