Dave Taylor

Dave Taylor
Dave Taylor, a prolific scorer in the Welsh pyramid.

DAVID Taylor was a regular goal-scorer in the Welsh Premier and then continued knocking them in for Buckley Town in the Cymru Alliance.
"Pixie", as he is known, played in the first season of the then League of Wales with Conwy United before a move to Porthmadog, scoring 23 times from 28 appearances for the two clubs, but his most prolific period came a season later when his 43 goals from 38 games put him top of the European goal charts.
His feat came at a time when the official Golden Boot award was not in operation, but he would amost certainly have lost out because of the coefficient system which puts Welsh Premier players at a disadvantage.
Nevertheless, his achievement puts him second behind Marc Lloyd-Williams as the highest total of goals achieved in one season.
He left the Traeth in season 1993/4 for Inter Cardiff, before a move back to Morfa Conwy.
There followed spells at Newtown, Holywell Town, Welshpool, Flexsys Cefn Druids and Oswestry Town, bringing a total of 117 league goals from 163 appearances, plus 44 as sub.
He then managed Buckley and steered the Globe Way club to their first-ever Cymru Alliance title in 2004/5.
He returned to the Welsh Premier as assistant manager of Caersws in the summer of 2007 and was later handed sole charge of the mid Wales outfit.
More recently he has coached with Cefn Druids and Wrexham Ladies.
