AFTER acting as caretaker since the sacking of Mark Aizlewood in February, Carmarthen Town have confirmed that Neil Smothers will continue as manager next season.

The 40-year-old had Welsh Premier experience with UWIC Inter Cardiff, Cwmbran Town and Port Talbot before joining Carmarthen in 2004.

He spent a year coaching and playing in Australia before returning to Wales with Bridgend Town and then rejoining Carmarthen as player/coach in November 2011 and has made 230 (+48) WPL appearances, scoring six goals.

Smothers will be assisted by another former Old Gold player, Danny Thomas, who scored 59 goals from 145 (+65) WPL appearances for Carmarthen and Haverfordwest,

A former Cardiff City pro, Thomas has been part of the coaching set-up at Richmond Park since June 2014.
