BALA Town lost ground in the chase for an automatic Europa League place as they lost 3-1 to Cefn Druids at The Rock.

The Ancients took the lead against the run of play in the 23rd-minute when Arek Piskorski fired home from 12 yards after beating the offside trap as the visitors failed to capitalise on their chances.

But home keeper Michael Jones was a spectator when Nathan Burke unleashed a 25-yarder to equalise in the 34th-minute and the same player spurned an opportunity to give his side the lead when he sliced a shot wide with the goal at his mercy.

Mike Hayes had the ball in the net for the Lakesiders just after the break but was adjudged to have fouled and Jordan Evans missed a chance before Druids regained the lead when Matty Owen slotted home from a rebound.

Sub Andrai Jones lasted only 30 seconds for Bala after a collision with fellow sub Les Davies and was taken to hospital before Druids' Alex Mudimu was red-carded. With 10 minutes of stoppage time signalled, Bala pressed for an equaliser but were caught on the break when an unmarked Mike Pritchard sealed the points for the home side.
