A GOAL from former striker Michael Wilde handed The New Saints a seventh consecutive Welsh Premier title without kicking a ball.

Wilde scored for Connah's Quay in a crucial 1-0 victory over Europa League rivals Bala Town, who were the only remaining side who could mathetically challenge TNS for the crown.

A veteran of more than 200 appearances for the Saints, Wilde pounced on a mistake by Dave Thompson to slot home from six yards out and lift the Nomads into second place, two points above the Lakesiders.

It is a 12th title for the Oswestry club now managed by Scott Ruscoe, who took over the reins from Craig Harrison last July.
