CARL Darlington has announced that he is stepping down from his coaching role with The New Saints.

Darlington returned to TNS in December 2015 after leaving his caretaker role with Wrexham six months earlier. He first joined the Saints as assistant manager in May 2010 from Airbus UK Broughton, where he was assistant to Craig Harrison.

He had previously served as first team coach under joint managers Lee Jones and Wayne Phillips at Cefn Druids.

Darlington, who works for the FAW Trust, says he is "leaving the club as a free agent and will be looking to seek a new challenge in order to develop myself further." and has been linked with a return to Wrexham as part of Dean Keates' coaching set-up.
