A BRACE from Kieran Smith saw Bala Town moved closer to clinching an automatic Europa League place with a 2-1 win at Bangor City.

After resisting home pressure in the first half, the Lakesiders took the lead nine minutes into the second half when a Chris Venables shot was parried by keeper Connor Roberts and Smith was on hand to net the rebound from close range.

City responded quickly as Anthony Miley headed home at the near post from a set-piece delivery, but Bala got the winner on 70 minutes as John Irving's cross was fired home by Smith.

In the Play-Off Conference, Cefn Druids eased their relegation fears with a 4-1 home win over Rhyl. Ashley Ruane was the home hero with two goals to take his season's tally to nine, alongside goals from Mike Pritchard and Ellis Healing.

Rhyl, who had Steffan Halewood sent-off on the hour mark, scored a consolation through Steve Lewis 10 minutes from time.
