FOLLOWING last month's resignation of Paul Evans, Afan Lido have appointed Steven Llewellyn to manage their first season back in Welsh League Division One.

Llewellyn is a former player who made 35 appearances for the club in the Welsh Premier League between 1992 and 2004.

Also an ex-assistant manager of Lido, Llewellyn will work alongside director of football Mark Robinson and former reserve team manager Michael Holmes as number two.

"We are delighted that Steven has agreed to take up the reins as first team manager," says Robinson.

"Having been my assistant for many years whilst the club was in the League of Wales, his experience and knowledge along with his enthusiasm, is exactly what the club are looking for, as Afan Lido look to rebuild from within using youth and local talent.

"Steven known by us as 'Weedy' was involved in what was the club's most consistent period in the national league, finishing regularly in the lucrative Premier Cup positions."

The new management team has already met with the majority of last season’s squad and last season’s captain Alex Gammond has re-signed along with other regular team members.
