GOYTRE surged five points clear at the top of Welsh League Division One thanks to a 4-1 home win over rock-bottom Caldicot Town as second-placed Caerau Ely slumped to a 3-1 defeat at Monmouth.

Third-placed Afan Lido drew 1-1 away to fourth-placed Cambrian & Clydach thanks to a Jordan Evans penalty while Barry Town United, who have games in hand on all the clubs above them, finished 2-1 winners away to lowly Undy Athletic, with the winning goal coming from Ryan Evans.

Penybont beat Ton Pentre 4-1, Adam Carpenter leading the way with a brace alongside goals from Joe Hopkins and Kane Owen, with mid-table rivals Haverfordwest County and Taffs Well sharing a goal-less draw at the Bridge Meadow.

Goytre United hit four without reply at Risca while Port Talbot continued their recent improvement, winning 3-0 at home to Cwmbran Celtic. Luke Bowen scored twice with the Steelmen's other goal coming from Jandir Zola.
