CAERNARFON Town dumped Bala Town out of the Word Cup on Wednesday night and were joined in the quarter-finals by fellow Huws Gray Alliance outfit Denbigh Town.

The Lakesiders took an 18th-minute lead at The Oval through Mark Connolly, but the Canaries were back on level terms three minutes later when Stuart Jones failed to clear and Robert Jones smashed home the equaliser.

Jamie Breese got Caernarfon's winner in the 64th-minute with a volley that keeper Craig Vernon got a hand to but couldn't prevent the ball entering the net.

Bala's hopes took a turn for the worse when Stuart Jones was sent-off and they failed to find an equaliser as Caernarfon added Bala to the scalp of Bangor City in the previous round.

Denbigh triumphed 4-0 away to Holyhead Hotspur where ex-Bala midfielder Kristian Pierce opened the visitors' account.

Carl Lamb added the second on 65 minutes and a Dewi Thomas own goal and a fourth from Sam Jones completed the rout.
