PRESTATYN Town duo Ross Stephens and Ben Maher have both signed for newly-promoted Caernarfon Town.

Highly-experienced midfielder Stephens, 33, is a Llanidloes-born player who made Welsh Premier appearances for Caersws in 2003/4 during a loan spell from Shrewsbury Town.

Released from the Gay Meadow after a loan period at Redditch United, he signed for the Bluebirds in June 2005. A Welsh Under-18 and Under-20 international, Stephens then moved to Rhyl in January 2007. However, he decided to quit at the end of the season and signed for Welshpool Town, but moved on to Aberystwyth in January 2009 before switching to Newtown in the summer of the same year.

After a season at Latham Park, he switched to Prestatyn Town in May 2010, spending four and a half seasons at Bastion Gardens before a return to Aberystwyth in January 2015. Stephens left Park Avenue a year later to return to Newtown and, after a brief spell back with Caersws in July 2017, moved back to Prestatyn on deadline day and has now made 341 (+31) WPL appearances, scoring 82 goals.

Maher, 22, was with Tranmere Rovers from the age of 15 where he completed a two-year scholarship, captained the youth side and played regularly for the reserves, before joining Prestatyn in July 2014. He switched to Rhyl in June 2015 but returned to the Seasiders and has completed 55 (+9) top flight appearances, scoring four times.
