FOLLOWING the dismissal of manager Mark Aizlewood, Carmarthen Town have handed interim charge of first team affairs to his assistant Neil Smothers.

The 40-year-old had Welsh Premier experience with UWIC Inter Cardiff, Cwmbran Town and Port Talbot before joining Carmarthen in 2004.

He spent a year coaching and playing in Australia before returning to Wales with Bridgend Town and then rejoining Carmarthen as player/coach in November 2011 and has made 230 (+48) WPL appearances, scoring six goals.

The Old Gold moved quickly to terminate the contract of Aizlewood, who was convicted of fraud at Southwark Crown Court on Monday.
