IAN Kearney has departed Connah's Quay Nomads after an agreement was reached to cancel his contract by mutual consent.

The 30-year-old moved to the Nomads from Airbus UK Broughton in June 2016 and was a vital part of the Club's first ever European campaign but, just six games into the Welsh Premier League campaign, suffered a serious knee injury at Cardiff Met.

After missing the remainder of the season, Kearney returned as a substitute against Met in September last year but suffered a prolapsed disc in his back.

A right-sided or central defender previously with Southport, Radcliffe Borough, Witton Albion and Ashton United, Kearney captained Northwich Victoria before following former manager Andy Preece to Airbus in the summer of 2012. During four seasons with the Wingmakers he captained the side and made a total of 80 (+1) WPL appearances, scoring 13 goals and made a total of eight Europa League appearances.
