A SUPER strike three minutes from time saw The New Saints exit from the Irn-Bru Cup at the semi-final stage for the second time as they lost 2-1 at home to Dumbarton.

The game only came to life in the second half when Ryan Brobbel took the ball past David Smith on the right hand side and drilled a low cross which the goalkeeper got a touch to, but it fell kindly for Dean Ebbe to thump into the net.

Dean Ebbe gave the home side the lead when Ryan Brobbel's drilled cross fell for him to smash home, but Danny Handling's fine finish from outside the box brought the visitors level.

But, when TNS lost possession from their own throw-in, Kyle Hutton stole the ball and found Daniel Handling who curled a wonderful ball into the net from outside the area.

With the game heading for extra-time, Dimitris Froxylias sent the travelling support into raptures with a thundering free-kick that gave goalkeeper Paul Harrison little chance.

Despite late pressure when Brobbel saw a close-range header blocked by Darren Barr, TNS could not find a way through as Dumbarton progress to meet either Inverness or Crusaders in the final.
