WELSH Premier clubs learned their first qualifying round Europa League opponents in today's draw at Uefa headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

Bala Town have been handed a tie against FC Vaduz of Liechenstein, who play in the Swiss Football League and have enjoyed success in the Europa League and, previously, the Uefa Cup.

They reached the second qualifying round last season after beating Sileks of Macedonia  5-2 on aggregate before losing by the same scoreline to Midtjylland of Denmark, who beat The New Saints a few seasons ago.

Bangor City have been drawn against Danish outfit Lyngby BK, who are making their European debut, while Connah's Quay Nomads will face HJK Helsinki of Finland, who inflicted a 13-0 aggregate defeat on Bangor in 2011, the worst-ever defeat for a Welsh Premier club in Europe.

The draw for the second qualifying round threw-up the following potential ties:

  • Bangor City or Lyngby BK v Slovan Bratislava or FC Pyunik
  • Bala Town or FC Vaduz v Odds BK or Ballymena United
  • Connah's Quay Nomads or HJK Helsinki v Dacia Chisenau or KF Shkendija
