BALA Town go into Christmas in second place in the Welsh Premier after a 4-2 away win at Airbus UK Broughton.

But they were forced to fight hard by the rock-bottom Wingmakers, who led 2-1 at the break after a flurry of goals late in the half. James Murphy put the hosts in front from a right wing cross but the Lakesiders were level when Jake Hulley fouled Ian Sheridan in the box and Lee Hunt stroked home the penalty. But the parity lasted only a minute before Ryan Wignall fed Tony Gray who slotted the ball into the far corner.

Airbus failed to take their chances after the interval with Jamie Menagh and Liam O'Neill both firing straight at keeper Ashley Morris from good positions and paid for their misses when Anthony Stephens headed the equaliser from a corner.

Stuart Jones headed Bala in front from another flag kick and Chris Venables ensured the Airbus goose was cooked when he netted the fourth.

Bangor City strengthened their grip on fourth place with a 3-0 away win at Aberystwyth Town. After a scoreless first half, Damien Allen scored twice inside nine minutes, the first after a shot from Henry Jones had been saved. Allen's cross-cum-shot eluded everyone in the box for the second and Rodrigo Branco sealed the points for the visitors with a shot into the roof of the net in the 84th minute, 10 minutes after coming off the bench.
