DEFENSIVE errors from second-placed Gap Connah's Quay allowed The New Saints to extend their lead at the top of the Welsh Premier table to 21 points.

TNS cruised to a 3-0 win at the Deeside Stadium after taking a fourth-minute lead when Wes Baynes misjudged the bounce of Simon Spender's long ball and Scott Quigley volleyed into the roof of the net from just inside the box.

Les Davies headed well wide for Nomads from a Nathan Woolfe cross with the goal at his mercy and Nicky Rushton's shot drew a routine save from Paul Harrison.

Hopes of a second-half fightback by the hosts went out of the window after two minutes when another Baynes error allowed Greg Draper to score with a great finish, steering the ball into the far corner for his 11th goal of the season.

Les Davies curled a shot just wide and Nathan Woolfe's shot was blocked by Steve Saunders as Quay looked to reduce the arrears, but more poor defending ended with Connell Rawlinson stabbing home from close range from a Ryan Brobbel ball into the box.

Davies went closest to a consolation when he headed against the crossbar as Nomads ended well-beaten.
