JACK Hughes has become Newtown's first signing of the summer.

The Caersws left back put pen to paper on a deal following an outing at Airbus last week, and boss Chris Hughes was delighted to secure his first new face of the summer.

"It is great to get Jack on board, he impressed us at Airbus and it is pleasing to sign him," Hughes said.

"He has been on our radar for a while because he did well against us in the Welsh Cup, and he did well when I watched him prior to that.

"He has former connections with the club, he is a local boy, and it is a great signing for Newtown Football Club."

Hughes is a former Newtown academy product and featured in the last reserve team to win the Mid Wales league in 2008.

He joins the Robins after a season where he featured in a large amount of Caersws games, and he could be in line for another appearance against an Anglesey Games XI at Airbus tomorrow night.
