Goyts close in on leading duo

Richard FrenchGOYTRE United moved to within a point of second-placed Haverfordwest in MacWhirter Welsh League Division One thanks to a 5-2 home win over Bryntirion Athletic on Tuesday night.
The Port Talbot village side did the real damage early on as Richard French (pictured) headed home a Michael Waters cross after a quarter of an hour.
A cool Craig Steins finish doubled the lead on 28 minutes and, just before the break, Goytre were awarded a penalty that French converted.
Goytre made it 4-0 on the hour through Waters before Bryn opened their account with a strike from captain Paul Evans. However, a goalkeeping error from Walters allowed Steins to make it 5-1 before Tomos Wellington netted during stoppage time.
Lowly Caerau (Ely) battled to a surprise 0-0 draw at Ton Pentre while, 24 hours later, Aberaman Athletic went down 3-1 at home to Taffs Well.
