Druids name 18-man Euro squad

CEFN Druids have named an initial squad of 18 players for their first-ever venture into Europe.

Manager Huw Griffiths says there are still two places up for grabs depending on performances in training ahead of the deadline for confirming the squad to UEFA later this month.

The squad includes new signings Richard Ackerley from Gresford Athletic, Rees Darlington from Bala Town, Josh Dures from West Cheshire League champions Ashville, Gareth Edwards from Buckley Town and Steve Jones from AFC Liverpool.

But defender Max Peate is unlikely to be included as he still struggles against the injury he suffered at the end of last season.

"I’m absolutely delighted to have the squad named, there are exciting times ahead," Griffiths says.

"There are some who will obviously be missing out and I’ve already had to tell a couple of them, which has been very difficult to do. I hated having to do it."

The squad is: Richard Ackerley, Mike Burke, Tony Cann, Rees Darlington, Warren Duckett, Josh Dures, Gareth Edwards, Marc Griffiths, Mark Harris, Adam Hesp, George Hughes, Robbie James, Lewis Jones, Steve Jones, Tom McElmeel, Chris Mullock. Joe Price. Kieran Quinn.
