Aberaman end appeal process
Wednesday 24 June 2009
Aberaman ParkAFTER making a U-turn at the weekend and deciding to take their promotion case to arbitration, Aberaman have now decided to drop their appeal.
The club was denied promotion to the Welsh Premier after failing to meet the ground grading deadline and then lost their appeal to the FAW.
Amazingly, the club only received the FAW's written document outlining the reasons for the decision four days after the 10-day deadline for lodging a second appeal had passed.
But, despite depositing a letter and cheque at the governing body's Cardiff HQ on Sunday night, the club has now had second thoughts.
"Having now received confirmation as to the reasons behind the refusal to gain entry into the Welsh Premier League and the subsequent appeal would like to inform you of our intention to withdraw from the appeal process in the best interests of Welsh Football," says a club statement.
"A view that is shared by all at the club knowing that arbitration would prolong the process and leave some of our member clubs in turmoil for another number of weeks as to where they could be playing next season.
"As a club we needed to know the reasons behind the refusal formally and having now received this we have now reluctantly decided to end the appeal process so the rest of Welsh football can continue to organise its season and the officials from the leagues can get on with their fixture scheduling.
"We would like to apologise to those clubs who may have been affected by our decision to prolong the appeal process and the officials of the various leagues that work so hard in scheduling fixtures for the forthcoming season," it adds.
Aberaman's decision means that Caersws are confirmed as continued members of the Welsh Premier and also resolves promotion and relegation issues down the pyramid.
