| Super 12 changes Talbot's priorities |
| Wednesday 24 June 2009 |
SUPER 12 has moved the goalposts for Port Talbot Town manager Mark Jones, who says that European football is no longer the number one priority. It is now all about finishing among the top 10 teams in the Welsh Premier this season. "Forget about getting into Europe next season – we now have to make finishing in the top 10 our number one priority," Jones told the Port Talbot Guardian. But the Steelmen's boss is unconvinced about the changes, although accepts that it is about progress. "That’s progress I suppose but I just let the powers-that-be make those decisions." Meanwhile, Talbot's rivals Neath are unimpressed by the relegation of eight teams in 2009/10. "I have been uncommitted for the last few months as I still do not understand why the FAW are changing things," said Eagles' manager Andy Dyer. "What is it going to improve? I don’t think the standards will rise much and there seems to be a lack of thought process put into this." |
