CAMBRIAN & Clydach gave manager Jarred Harvey the perfect response to their opening weekend defeat to Taff’s Well, with an emphatic 7-0 win on Tuesday night over Bridgend Town, writes Matthew Burgess.
Kieran Lewis, Daniel Lever, Mike Jones, Jason Bertorelli (2), Ceri Morgan and Robbie Walters were all on the scoresheet as the league champions thrashed Bridgend to pick up their first points of the season.
Ton Pentre and Haverfordwest lead the way with maximum points from their opening two games – ahead of next Saturday’s early top-of-the-table clash.
Chris Colvin gave Ton an early advantage against Aberdare Town before Gareth Tedstone doubled the visitors lead minutes later. Aberdare replied through Jamie Bradford but the hosts were once again trailing by a two-goal margin when, two minutes later, Tom McCarthy added a third for Ton Pentre. And Tedstone was again well-placed to grab his second of the night to seal a comfortable win for Dean Morris’ side.
Second-half goals from Richie Lewis and Chris Holloway secured Haverfordwest a 2-0 win over Pontardawe Town. A debatable challenge on County’s Chris O’Sullivan was followed up by a Lewis’ poorly struck spot-kick, which crept in past James Harries . More bad luck was to follow for Harries as Holloway pounced on his error, to claim his first goal since his summer move from Llanelli.
Goytre United were handed a second successive defeat, losing to West End. Sam Brown (2), Dale Griffiths and Kieran Cullen were on target for the Pryderi Park side, with Craig Steins replying for Goytre United, who’re still searching for their first points of the campaign.
