CONNAH'S Quay are awaiting international clearance for the transfer of pacey right back John Oyenuga from Farnborough FC.

The Southern League Premier Division outfit responded to our revelation last week that Oyenuga was set to join the Nomads by issuing a statement which said: "We do not wish to lose John, who has been a very important player for us, and are surprised he would consider moving to Wales, having told us he is moving to the States in the not too distant future."

"This seems to be a case of unofficial agents meddling and getting inside a player's head. With no disrespect to the Welsh Premier League this is not a step up for John, so I am surprised he would consider such a move," added manager Spencer Day.

Nevertheless, the 22-year-old, who has also played for Walton & Hersham, has signed a contract until January and becomes the Nomads' seventh full-time player, following in the footsteps of Mathias and Michael Bakare, Joe Heath, Jake Phillips, Declan Poole and Rhys Williams.
