BARRY Town United have signed midfielder Elliot Scotcher from Aberystwyth Town.

The 23-year-old, who hails from Pembrokeshire, spent time with Ipswich Town and Cardiff City as a youngster, before enrolling at UWIC and becoming a key figure in the ascent of the students from Welsh League Division Three to the Welsh Premier League.

After graduation, Scotcher trialled with Newport County before signing for Merthyr Town in the summer of 2015 and established himself as a key member of the team, but missed the last part of the season with a foot injury.

Returning last summer, he was again ruled out with a shoulder injury sustained against Biggleswade Town in October and did not featured again before joining Aberystwyth in January, where he made just two Welsh Premier appearances before leaving the club..
