EX-Carmarthen Town striker Christian Doidge scored at Wembley to help his Forest Green Rovers side gain promotion to the English Football League for the first time in their history.

Doidge pounced four minutes before half time with a superb strike from the edge of the box into the bottom corner to restore FGR's lead.

Team mate Kaiyne Woolery added his second soon afterwards to condemn Tranmere Rovers to a third straight season of non-league football, after their 94-year stay in the EFL ended with relegation in 2015.

Doidge, who took his goal tally to 27 this season, played in the Welsh league for Croesyceiliog and Cwmbran Celtic before joining Barry Town, where he top-scored in season 2011/12.

A January 2013 signing for Carmarthen, he hit 17 WPL goals in season 2013/14 and attracted the attention of several clubs, completing a move to League Two with Dagenham in August 2014.
