THERE are three nominees for the Welsh Premier League's player of the season award.

Not surprisingly, Golden Boot winner Jason Oswell, who hit 22 league goals for Newtown, is one of the three, while the other nominees are Henry Jones of Bangor City and Jon Routledge of The New Saints.

Northwich-born 24-year-old Oswell, who began his career at Crewe Alexandra, has scored 51 goals since joining the Robins from Airbus UK Broughton in June 2014.

Jones, who is also nominated for the young player of the season accolade, signed his first professional contract with Swansea City in the summer of 2011 and captained the Under-21 side on a number of occasions in 2014-15 but did make a senior appearance at the Liberty Stadium. Capped by Wales at Under-21 level, he signed for Bangor City in August last year following his release by the Swans and has made 29 WPL appearances this season, scoring 10 goals.

Liverpool-born midfielder Routledge, 27, played in a Premier League while at Wigan Athletic and had spells with Hamilton and Dumbarton, before joining TNS a year ago. He made 29 appearances in the WPL for the Saints last season, scoring four goals.
