FORMER Aberystwyth Town starlet Alex Samuel has become the first signing of the summer for Stevenage Borough.

Samuel progressed through the Seasiders' academy system, making his Welsh Premier debut just two weeks after his 16th-birthday and went on to make three (+4) appearances before being snapped-up by Swansea City.

He spent the second half of this season on-loan at Newport County, where he was signed by Graham Westley, and played an important role in their Football League survival campaign, scoring two goals in 15 starts for the Exiles.

Samuel did not break into the Swans' first team ranks, but was a regular in the Under-21 side that won the Professional Development League in 2015.
