NEWTOWN took their chances to extend their unbeaten run to nine games and head the Play-Off Conference by four points with a 2-0 away win at Rhyl.

The Lilywhites had always looked most likely to score, but failed to take their chances with Alex Jones failing to beat Jack Perry when one-on-one. Craig Williams hooked a Rhyl effort off the the line before a Chris Rimmer goal-bound header deflected wide off defender Shane Sutton.

Perry made a good save to deny Oliver Buckley and the hosts paid the price for their profligacy in the final 20 minutes. Sub Joe Kenton scored his first for the visitors from Nick Rushton's through pass and Jason Oswell maintained his lead in the race for the Golden Boot, scoring against his former club to take his tally to 18 for the season.
