WELSH Cup holders The New Saints will face Gap Connah's Quay in the semi-finals after this evening's draw in Cardiff.

TNS gained a narrow 1-0 win over Newtown thanks to an eighth-minute Jamie Mullan goal while the Nomads triumphed 2-0 away at Welsh League front runners Cardiff Met University.

Nathan Woolfe edged the visitors in front on the stroke of half time when he fired home from a Paul Linwood free-kick at the far post. Callum Morris hit the home crossbar 11 minutes into the second half but followed up to net the rebound and seal the win. Connah's Quay are the only side to have beaten TNS in the Welsh Premier this season.

In the other semi-final, Airbus UK Broughton will play Port Talbot Town. The Wingmakers reversed a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Bala Town three weeks ago in fine style, James Murphy putting the hosts ahead after seven minute.

Matty McGinn scored with a fine strike from the right hand side into the top corner on 17 minutes and a first goal for Kevin Monteiro sealed the home side's passage into the last four.

The Steelmen avoided a potential banana skin with a 2-1 win at tier three Cwmbran Celtic. Luke Bowen put Talbot in front on 32 minutes, but Rhys Williams got Celtic back in the game on the hour following a corner.

But Bowen's 25-yarder five minutes later proved to be the winner in a closely-fought contest.
