NEWTOWN'S Latham Park will host both of this year's Welsh Cup semi-finals on the same day in a double header on Saturday 2 April.

Airbus UK Broughton will face Port Talbot Town at 1.00pm, with Gap Connah's Quay then facing holders The New Saints at 5.15pm in a game to be televised live by S4C.

“The opportunity to host a JD Welsh Cup semi final double-header provides us with a feast of football," says the FAW's head of competitions Andrew Howard.

"I hope the event develops a strong following amongst Welsh football fans and this decision will be vindicated by the attendances and also the standard of football on show on the excellent Latham Park surface.

“Another important and attractive factor is the fan-friendly and fantastic price of just £8 for the two games. Spectator facilities at the stadium are excellent with the social club having undergone a recent refurbishment, so come rain or shine, the fans will enjoy a comfortable day.

“The event has all the ingredients to grow, so perhaps the experiment of 2016 will be a permanent fixture in our sporting calendar for years to come."
