WORD Cup holders The New Saints have been handed a home tie with Holywell Town of the Huws Gray Alliance in the second round.

And there are some tough draws for some of the other lower-tier clubs in the next stage with Penrhyncoch of the Mid Wales League drawn away to Airbus UK Broughton. The sides last met in the competition three years ago when a Chris Budrys goal saw the Wingmakers through away at Cae Baker.

Caernarfon are rewarded for their victory over Bangor City with a home tie against Bala Town, while Pontypridd Town have a difficult away task at Carmarthen Town, who were given a fright by Briton Ferry Llansawel on Tuesday night before going through 5-4 on penalties.

Welsh League Ton Pentre may fancy their chances at home to Port Talbot Town, while an Alliance side is guaranteed a place in the last eight after Holyhead Hotspur were paired with Denbigh Town, both clubs knocking-out Welsh Premier opposition in the first round.

The draw in full, with ties scheduled to be played on September 29, is:

  • Airbus UK v Penrhyncoch
  • Caernarfon Town v Bala Town
  • Carmarthen Town v Pontypridd Town
  • Haverfordwest County v Aberystwyth Town
  • Holyhead Hotspur v Denbigh Town
  • Prestatyn Town v Gap Connah’s Quay
  • The New Saints v Holywell Town
  • Ton Pentre v Port Talbot Town
