THE ABBA penalty shoot-out system will be trialled in the Nathaniel MG Cup, for which the first round draw was made today.

Instead of taking alternate penalties, sides will have two in a row after the initial spot kick has been taken. The system is designed to prevent the team that goes second from being put at the psychological disadvantage of always having to play catch-up.

The draw for the first round is:

  • Afan Lido v Penybont FC
  • Airbus UK Broughton v Cefn Druids
  • Bala Town v Newtown AFC
  • Bangor City v Denbigh Town
  • Caersws FC v Aberystwyth Town
  • Goytre FC v Cardiff Met
  • Haverfordwest County v Goytre United
  • Holywell Town v Prestatyn Town
  • Llandudno FC v Caernarfon Town
  • Pontypridd Town v Taffs Well
  • Porthmadog FC v Holyhead Hotspur
  • Rhyl FC v Flint Town United

Barry Town, Carmarthen, Connah's Quay and TNS enter at a later stage with first round ties scheduled to be played on August 29 and 30.
