CARDIFF Met climbed to the top of the Welsh Premier table with a 2-0 away win at Prestatyn Town.

Both goals came from the boot of Eliot Evans, whose flick defeated Carl Jones in the Seasiders' goal on 41 minutes with the second coming 11 minutes from time after a good pass from Ben Bowler.

The crisis deepened at Carmarthen who failed to take advantage of Prestatyn's defeat as they went down 2-0 at home to Newtown, their 11th loss in 13 games. The Old Gold remain eight points adrift at the bottom as first Luke Boundford and then Neil Mitchell scored for the Robins within the final seven minutes at Richmond Park.

In the day's other game, Barry Town United built on last weekend's away win at The New Saints by beating Llandudno 2-0 at Jenner Park, with goals from defender Chris Hugh and Kayne McLaggan.

• Eliot Evans (Cardiff Met), Kayne McLaggan (Barry) and Adam Roscrow (Cardiff Met) are now the WPL's joint leading scorers with eight goals each.
