WINGMAN Chris Jones has left Aberystwyth Town and the Welsh Premier League to sign for Afan Lido in welsh League Division One.

Jones moved to the Black & Greens last August from Thunderbay Chill in Canada and had been linked with a move to Newtown in the January transfer window.

The 27-year-old signed a permanent deal with Grimsby Town after coming through the ranks at Swansea City and was loaned to Neath in his native South Wales in January 2010. After returning to Blundell Park, Jones was transfer-listed and promptly returned to the Eagles on a permanent basis.

He has represented Wales at Under-21 and Under-23 levels and was voted into the league dream team in 2011 and 2012.

After three seasons at The Gnoll, Jones became a free agent following the demise of the Eagles and signed for The New Saints in July 2012. He spent two seasons at Park Hall but, after being unable to secure a return to the English pro ranks with Newport County, joined Gloucester City on a short-term deal in July 2014 before a move to Port Talbot at the end of the year.

He scored 12 goals from his 186 (+12) WPL appearances.
