GOALKEEPER Paul Harrison equalled the record for appearances in Europe by a Welsh Premier League player on Tuesday night when he donned the gloves for The New Saints against Europa FC in the Champions League.

Harrison drew level with his former team-mate Phil Baker by making his 31st appearance in a European tie and is set to break the record next week in the away leg.

A former Liverpool and Leeds trainee, 32-year-old Harrison went to Wolverhampton Wanderers and then Chester City, where he made four first-team appearances.

A brief spell at Hereford United was followed by time at Southport, but he was released by former Bangor City boss Peter Davenport at the end of season 2006/7 and joined TNS as cover for Gerard Doherty, before becoming first choice after Doherty's return to Derry City and virtually ever-present since with 316 WPL starts.
