DENBIGH Town have turned to former player and assistant manager Eddie Maurice-Jones as the man to replace manager Gareth Thomas, who left the club last week.

The 27-year-old moves after a highly-successful spell with Gresford Athletic, who currently lie eighth in the Huws Gray Alliance after a sixth-placed finish last season following promotion from the Welsh National League.

"We are very pleased that Eddie has agreed to commit to Denbigh Town and has moved over from Gresford Athletic FC where he has done so well," says Denbigh chairman Shon Powell.

"Eddie once played for the Reds under Richard Williams-Cooke some years ago and so comes in with that background knowledge. He was a very talented footballer until serious injury put a stop to his playing days.

"Eddie is still only 27 yrs old and is clearly hungry for success. His confident enthusiasm has already impressed everyone he has met at the club and we think he is perfect for the role. He has already started working on the team and will be in charge at our next league game at Penrhyncoch."
