MATTHEW Cook's long Welsh Premier career appears to be over after the midfielder joined Denbigh Town in the Huws Gray Alliance from Cefn Druids.

A former Welsh Under-19 player with experience at Leigh RMI, Cook first joined Druids from Chester City in the close season of 2005.

A double leg fracture in September 2006 ruled him out for almost two seasons, and he returned in August 2008, leaving the Ancients to join Airbus UK Broughton at the end of the following month.

After two seasons with the Wingmakers, Cook joined Newtown in January 2011 as part of a deal which saw Gavin Cadwallader moving in the opposite direction. He spent five and half successful years with the Robins, captaining the side, before leaving in June 2016 to rejoin Druids.

The 31-year-old has scored 14 goals from 225 (+26) Welsh Premier appearances and made two substitute appearances in the Europa League for Newtown in 2015.
