THE New Saints and Airbus UK Broughton were both forced to settle for a home point in Friday night's Welsh Premier games.

Aberystwyth gained some measure of revenge for last Friday's Welsh Cup exit at the hands of the runaway league leaders.

But the portents did not look good for the visitors when Matty Williams gave the Saints a seventh-minute lead, forcing home a rebound after Seasiders' keeper Mike Lewis had parried a Christian Seargeant shot.

Rhys Griffiths missed a good chance for Aber when he headed over from close range while Lewis atoned for his earlier error with a superb save to deny Williams a second goal.

Adrian Cieslewicz hit a post with a header for TNS after the break and Williams then crashed a shot against the crossbar.

And Chris Venables made the hosts pay for their misses with a superb half volley from just inside the box to earn a point.

Airbus also missed several chances to defeat struggling Rhyl, Tony Gray curling a shot against the woodwork early in the second half.

Chris Budrys missed the Wingmakers' best chance, spooning a shot over the bar from closer range before Gray headed narrowly wide from two yards out from a Tom Field flag kick.
