LLANDUDNO'S hopes of closing the gap on Welsh Premier leaders The New Saints were dashed as they fell 2-1 at home to Bangor City.

In this first-ever top flight clash between the north Wales coast neighbours, the first half was scoreless with Lee Thomas firing high and wide for the hosts and Chris Jones firing just over for the Citizens from Declan Walker's pass.

Danny Shaw clipped the outside of a post from Leo Riley's free kick for Tudno and City had an escape when a poor back pass from Leon Clowes went narrowly wide of his own net.

Sam Hart sent a free kick just wide for City but was handed another chance after the break and made no mistake from the penalty spot.

Anthony Miley doubled the visitors' lead on 66 minutes and, although Llandudno responded with a 13th-goal of the season for Marc Williams, it came in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
