| Legg expecting strong Robins' test |

LLANELLI can take over at the Welsh Premier summit if they can win at Newtown's Latham Park on Saturday. The Reds have won on their past four visits the mid-Wales venue, scoring 16 goals, but player-manager Andy Legg (pictured) is expecting a tough test. "We have played very well up there recently, but this time I expect a tougher match as Darren Ryan has strengthened his squad in the transfer window," said Legg, who will be without Craig Jones, Owain Warlow and the suspended Antonio Corbisiero. "And Newtown badly need the points as they are anxious to be in the super league, so we can expect a difficult afternoon." Robins' boss Darren Ryan Ryan is confident his side can continue the form shown in their last two matches. "They’re going for the title and we’ve just got to try and stop them playing and do our own thing," said Ryan. "It will be difficult but we’ve had two clean sheets since we started back playing again and that’s given us confidence and we have to take that into this Saturday." Aberystwyth can claim third place if they can take maximum points away at Airbus UK Broughton, and manager Alan Morgan is demanding an improved performance from his side after Welsh Cup defeat at home to Port Talbot. "We’re still in a good position in the league, but it is your position at the end of April that matters, and I wont let the season just fizzle away," said Morgan. "Airbus play good football and have games in hand on the sides above them, they have given the top sides a game this season, and their win in Aber will be in the back of the players' minds." The Wingmakers also face Llanelli at home on Tuesday and manager Craig Harrison says: "The next week is a really important one for us and we’ve got to look at taking six points, and at the very bottom line, four." Former Premier League defender Jamie Smith is expected to make his Airfield bow after signing from Halesowen Town. |
