ENTO Aberaman claimed their first-ever Welsh League title in emphatic style with an 8-0 away hammering of Dinas Powys to pip reigning champions Goytre United by one point. The Welsh Premier's second highest goal scorer, Chris Summers, led the way with four goals, while Richard Ryan weighed-in with a brace. Two more ex-top flight players, veteran Mattie Davies and John Phillips, rounded-off the performance. The Cynon Valley club now face an anxious wait on the outcome of their appeal to the FAW over the failure of their ground to meet Welsh Premier criteria at the end of April deadline. It rained goals in Division One, with Gwent clubs Croesyceiliog and Cwmbran Town on the wrong end of seven-goal defeats. Croesy went down 7-3 at Bridgend, while the Crows lost 7-2 at home to another ex-Welsh Premier side, Afan Lido, with former Cardiff City youth Scott McCoubrey grabbing four. Craig Hewings and skipper Mike Jones of ENTO get the trophy from fixtures secretary Tony Griffiths. |
